Ghost Ship?

We woke up this morning to our first real snowfall of the season. I am not thrilled.
Luckily, I am taking a little break at the end of this week, and will be travelling to a warmer climate!

Where am I going?

Well, I am fortunate to be cruising the Caribbean for a week. Its sort of a family reunion, on my husbands side.....he has a set of twin brothers that turn 50 next week. My sister in law, who is also a travel agent, thought it would be nice for the boys and their families to celebrate together on a special trip,
(I couldn't agree more!) and managed to get us all a super deal. The three brothers are scattered across the country, so it will be fabulous to reunite on the ship, and celebrate in style.

One thing that I am looking forward to, is celebrating Halloween on the cruise ship! Apparently, everyone dresses up in their Halloween costumes, and the ship is all decked out to celebrate the occasion. Should be fun! I hope to get some great photos of that wild event, and will post them for you all to see, once I return.

Shortly after I return home, the Christmas show season will be starting, so I have been madly preparing for 2 great shows that I will be involved in, in November. It will be a crazy month, so I am looking forward to some relaxing and downtime, over the next week, to psyche myself up for the holiday selling season.  Pin It

Double Duty

These days people want more for their money, more bang for their buck, so to say.
For example,  it's always cool, when you find that perfect jacket...

......but  how cool is it when you find out that it is reversible?

Or the coffee table that provides extra seating for your guests in a flash.

I have been working on a few multi functional designs of my own.

This piece is a necklace..............

that also works as a pretty bracelet!

Here is another piece, that once again functions as a chunky statement bracelet.....

....and also changes into a double strand shorter style necklace...........

....or  make a quick change, and, voila........wear it as a long single strand necklace!

Alluring Necklaces

For those of you that guessed that I used a fishing lure, in the necklace in my last post, you are correct!

Yes.. I  have been creating necklaces with big  metal fishing lures that have a fabulous patina.  I have gently cleaned them, then waxed them with a guilders paste, and buffed them with a soft cloth to bring out the rich warm rones of the aged metal.  I have made a few more of these "Alluring Necklaces" this weekend, and hopefully will get around to posting some photos later this week. I currently have one listed on Etsy, and another will be taken to Chateau Country Lace, in Calgary, when I take my next group of items into that boutique this month. The others will be coming along with me to my Christmas sales in November.

Can anyone guess what these are?

Hint: I  recently discovered these on the coast.

My first thought was.."lovely patina!"

My brain race to try and figure out how I could incorporate these into my jewelry designs.  Mmmmm....2 holes...great for connectors, dangles or focals...........

I was not exactly sure how these would be used, but figured I would take them home and play.

Here is what I came up with:

The necklace is called "Alluring...in blue"!
Stay tuned for tomorrows answer!

Seasonal Colors

Its the time of the year, when Fall signifies the big wardrobe switcheroo. That is when I take all of my light weight summer clothes, down to the storage cupboard, and bring all the warm winter woolies and heavy coats, upstairs to the main closet. Its sad to say goodbye to my summer friends that served me so well over the past several months of warm temperatures and fun summer vacations. However, meeting up once again with my forgotten but loyal winter pals, certainly has its merits.

Lately, as the season  changes into Fall, I  find myself attracted to  subtle, smoky, warm hues of plum, gray, coffee and teal. I have been using these colors over the last few days, in some of my new designs.

Several weeks ago, I was drawn to rich, jewel tones, and found myself using colors such as eggplant, olive green, and fuschia.

It's funny how our color preferences change with the change of the weather and the season!

I love  browsing through the color palettes on Design Seeds. If you have enjoyed her color palettes here, you can check out Jessicas blog as well, for more great color inspiration and eye candy!

Falling into Autumn........

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

Yes, this weekend is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, so we will be celebrating with turkey and pumpkin pie.  We had a fabulous month of September with summer like temperatures, but yesterday the weather changed and we awoke to a dusting of the evil white stuff on the ground. The weather here always seems to turn cold, about mid October, and Old Man Winter settes in for his long stay. I think we have a bit of a reprieve this weekend with warmer weather once again, but we all know that the winter weather will be upon us very soon.

You probably know that I dislike the winter season, and that summertime is my favorite time of year. However, that being said, I do enjoy the colours of Fall, and the warm days of Indian summer.

Here is a look at one of my recently completed pieces. Some of you may have seen it when it was in the "pendant" stage, but now it is finished. My inspiration for this piece was Autumn, the warm colours of that season and the falling of the leaves.

A Mans World

The month of September has flown by!

I am back at home after my little jaunt out to the coast to visit my daughter.  I was worried about leaving my guys alone for that length of time, but they managed to survive.
During my time away from home............

-  my husband did his first load of laundry...ever!

- my husband threw all of his clean, laundered socks in his drawer....unrolled. ( That will be fun pairing them up in the morning when he is getting ready for work)

- speaking of socks....my son ran out of clean socks, so he decided to raid my sport socks from my dresser drawer.

- I don't believe that a single vegetable crossed the dinner plates of my son and husband during the entire time that I was gone.

-the boys remembered to feed the cat, so thankfully, the cat is still living.

I think I am more appreciated now since I have returned home, and  my guys are actually pitching in and helping out more than ever! Pin It
